Life is Good

We have absolutely been loving our time getting adjusted to life with Emma. It truly has been a wonderful few weeks and we have loved every minute of getting to know our baby girl and figuring out what type of parents we want to be. We our two very laid back people so we have been able to take a very laid back approach to parenting. We have spent a lot of time talking about what is important to each of us as we go through this which has helped us from getting overwhelmed or getting frustrated with one another. Sure we get frustrated, but we talk about it immediately so we can prevent it from happening the next time. Breastfeeding, sleepless nights, multiple diaper changes, pacifier or no pacifier, when to introduce a bottle, etc. everything is up for discussion and we have found at this point as long as we talk about everything we are getting the hang of it!! It is beyond a team effort! I know that many moms feel like everything lies on them the first weeks but I couldn't feel further from that. Dan has helped with everything!!! From helping me with breastfeeding, to changing most diapers, helping with everything around the house. In no way does it feel like one of us is carrying more of the work load. I couldn't be happier with the way we have handled our first 2 1/2 weeks and can only hope that we can work together like this for the weeks, months and years to come!

We have loved having our moms help us out too!! Dans mom has been able to come over from Evansville twice already to spend time cuddling and sugar necking with her precious grand daughter! I am so glad she is able to make the trips over and spend the time with all three of us. She helps out around here more than she knows and Emma loves having her Evansville Nana around!! My mom has been able to take several 1/2 days and we have loved some little outings with sweet Emma! Nanny Wendy even babysat last night so Dan and I could go on a date!!! It was great!!! Mom loved spending time with her, although I think she was hoping they were going to have a tea party...a little too soon for those! Dan an I actually were out of the house for about 2 1/2 hours!! We went and grabbed a great dinner and just talked about life as we know it over the past two weeks. It was a great time. I'm sure we will be able to do that lots more as Nanny Wendy ad Gramps are always looking for some time with Emma. I know they are just dying for us all to get to the pool together in a few weeks.

We are off on our first road trip next Saturday, not too far - but packing the car will be different than it has ever been that is for sure! We are headed to Evansville for the night on Saturday - for a Flynn family reunion. We are looking forward to seeing all the family, especially the cousins that we dont get to see too often! And of course I cant wait to show Emma off to everyone!! There is an indoor pool at the hotel so I believe Emma may be sporting one of her bathing suits for the first time! Im sure we will just be hanging pool side but the girl has to look the part! Trust me there will be pictures!!!

Here is a sneak peek of some of my favorite photos from her newborn photo shoot!!
